Romans 10:13  Whoever Calls On The Name Of The LORD Shall Be Saved,
We, The Pastor, Officers and Members, count it a
real joy to welcome our visitors sharing with them
the blessings of GOD. If you do not have a church
home, We invite you to earnestly consider the
challenge of the fellowship.
Again We Welcome You

Our Mission

The Great Commission --
Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age. Amen            (Matt. 28:19-20, NKJ).

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. The new birth of man's spirit by God's Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary effort on the part of all rests thus upon a spiritual necessity of the regenerate life, and is expressly and repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness under girded by a Christian lifestyle, and by other methods in harmony with the gospel of Christ.

Church History

On August 3, 1994, Rev. Phillip B. McDowell was installed as the 4th Pastor of South     Hempstead Baptist Church. He focused on the growth of the Church spiritually, numerically and financially. Bible study was instituted on Tuesday nights. Our Evangelistic Team canvasses the community during our Revivals. The Church sponsors a Food and Clothing Drive, Family and Friends Day, and an Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for seniors and those in need of a hot and hearty meal. South Hempstead serves as the meeting place for a local Narcotics Anonymous group. We have a prison ministry at the Nassau County Correctional Facility and also minister to the residents of the A. Holly Patterson Home, Uniondale, N.Y. and the Mayfair Nursing Home, Hempstead, N.Y.. On March 19,2005, the Young Lions Mentoring Program for boys 8-17 was started. The Social Action Committee was also formed and had their first meeting on April 9, 2005

Presently, the Church has two Sunday Morning Worship Services in response to our continued growth, Not only are we blessed with new members but also many of our older members are still with us. One of our oldest living members, Mrs. Violet Turner, was baptized by our organizer and first Pastor, the late Rev. Elijah Coleman. South Hempstead has initiated a strong Tithing Program enabling the Church to purchase a new van, instruments, computers and renovate our Auxiliary Building. Reactivation of our Building Fund has helped us take steps towards making the Church handicap accessible
