For Seventy-Five years God has used the South Hempstead
Baptist Church as a beacon of light in this community. The Gospel has been
preached, sinners converted and backsliders reclaimed. Only God knows for
certain how many couples were wedded, how many babies were blessed, and how
many souls were baptized. Countless saints have come through these doors
equipped to do various ministries in the name of our Lord. Many from among us
have gone from labor to reward. The truth is God has been good to us and good
through us. That is why we rejoice during this Diamond Jubilee Celebration.
I am
keenly aware ministry here at South Hempstead Baptist Church did not begin
when I showed up some twelve and a half years ago. Ministry was going on long
before I was born. I thank God for the pastors who were here before me; The
Deacons, Deaconesses, Trustees, Missionaries and Sunday School Teachers who
made a difference and contributed to building God's Kingdom here on earth.
While we
pause for this mountaintop experience, let us be mindful our real work is in
the valley. Let's roll up our sleeves and continue to be available for the
Master. Let us remain faithful in letting our light shine as we give thanks
for His unmerited favor.
