CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MINISTRY SOUTH HEMPSTEAD BAPTIST CHURCH THE SUNDAY SCHOOL DEPARTMENT REV. PHILLIP McDOWELL - PASTOR
SISTER BERTHA TODD-PUGH SUPERINTENDENT Sunday school is defined as reaching people, so you can teach the people and win them to Christ and then care for those people spiritually. Sunday school is not an agency seperate or apart from the Church, but perhaps, the best structured agency in the Church for carrying out mosy effectively the teaching ministry of Christ. This arm of the Church is divided into four parts Reaching, Teaching, Winning abd Spiritually Caring for the students. Let's face it, By Reaching we attempt to reach all ages for Christ, making that contact with all and motivating him or her to give an honest hearing of the Gospel. Teaching is guiding the learning activities that meet human needs. The first step of teaching is expressed in the verse by the words "That they may hear" the ultimate step of teaching is "That they may learn". Winning people to Christ, Winning is communicating the Word in an understandable manner and motivating a person to respond to Christ. Sunday school gives Spiritual Care to all members, The objectives are to spiritual care for all so that all will carefully observe all the words of the Gospel. The great commission tells us to reach the lost, teach them God's Word, win them to Jesus Christ and mature them in faith
